Upcoming Courses

I offer the following courses on a rolling basis, once at least two students commit to a course.

Sacred Geometry
Modern Physics for Everyone
Texture of Time
Astrology Basics
Astrology Seminar

Courses start at the beginning of each month and consist of 4 x 2 hour classes. Enrolled students will decide on a mutually accessible meeting time, likely an evening or weekend day. Course meetings will take place at my home and/or including excursions to nature. Upon request I can make the courses available online. See course descriptions and rates below.

Course descriptions:

Sacred Geometry
Similar mathematical patterns emerge in the natural world and human creations across time and discipline. The Fibonacci sequence, the Golden Mean, and fractals appear over and over again plants, crystals, coastlines, animals, religion, art, architecture, music, literature, and economics, etc. Through readings, independent research, and fieldwork, creative and geometrical exploration students will learn to identify these types of patterns in the surrounding world and to create them. The recurrence of these themes imbues a timeless, sacred quality that begs the question, “What do they mean?” This class also explores the underlying principles, such as chaos theory and cymatics, that seem to generate these patterns and ponders their significance in historical and scientific dialog.

Modern Physics for Everyone
Modern physics has re-framed the way we understand reality, not only scientifically, but philosophically as well. Many of its concepts have worked their way into popular culture, but how many of us really understand their scientific basis? This introduction to modern physics aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the theoretical foundations and philosophical implications of quantum mechanics, relativity, chaos theory, and fractals, including explorations of wave/particle duality, quantum superposition, time dilation, length contraction, space-time curvature, the butterfly effect, strange attractors, and complex numbers.

Texture of Time
Does consciousness emerge in time? Is time a byproduct of consciousness, or is it somehow both? In the last century of physics, some mysterious properties of time emerged in the fields of special and general relativity, quantum mechanics, and chaos theory. We will traverse these realms in attempts to bridge the gap between the scientific description of time and some of the more unusual human experiences of time, including different rates of flow, experiences of timelessness, precognition, and synchronicity. By employing physics, neurophysiology, and the mathematics of fractals, and dialog with the natural world we will begin to get some hints of the orchestration underlying time’s many costume changes.
The course is taught with philosophers, mystics, poets, and artists in mind, so no previous experience with math or physics is required.

Astrology Basics
Learn how to read your birth chart, transits, synastry, and progressions, and develop a deeper understanding of planetary archetypes, signs, houses, and aspects.

 Astrology Seminar
This discussion-based seminar provides a gathering place for intermediate to advanced astrology practitioners to share and develop their knowledge together. At the beginning of each course we will choose an astrological theme to explore several iterations of. Potential seminar themes might include: the moon in the elements, with a session per element; outer planet global transits, choosing four to focus on; prominent synastry aspects; Mar’s aspects to inner planets in the birth chart; etc.

Rates:
1 x 8 hr course = $200
